Growing up in the 70s, my favourite TV show was Doctor Who. My favorite Doctor, was Tom Baker, and the most horrifying villains were the Daleks. Even as an adult they are probably still near the top of the list. The Daleks were the result of needing to improve the human condition. To fix it’s “frailties” and “weaknesses”. To rectify nature’s “mistakes”. What resulted was cold, emotionless implaccability. A construction devoid of morality, conscience, or empathy. Soulless. Effectively, non-human, even without the metal casing.
